Social care graduate recruitment needs revising
Experts have commented that some sectors of the UK economy need to improve aspects of the graduate recruitment if they are to compete for the best graduates, with social care high on the List.
Moira Brown, a HR Director at Care South said there was a need to persuade graduates that the care industry offered a career opportunity. With the aging population in the UK the need for social care workers will rise dramatically in the coming years with figures expected to reach 2.5 million by 2025.
With these figures in mind it represents a fantastic opportunity for graduate recruitment firms looking to enter expanding markets. For a variety of reasons in the past the care industry has not been seen as an attractive option for graduates. However, with the credit crunch gripping Britain, many of the sectors normally thriving with graduate recruitment programs such as the legal and finance sectors are having to cut back. This surely creates an opportunity for the care industry and any innovative graduate recruitment firms who can attract good graduates to this sector.
